SEATTLE, WASHINGTON

SALTY'S ON ALKI BEACH

Do you need a getaway from the hustle and bustle of downtown Seattle? If so, Salty's is the place for you. The best way to get to it is by ferry just off of Alaskan Way. The ride provides you with stunning views of the Seattle skyline and is very reliable in regards to getting you back afterwards. Salty's is a terrific seafood restaurant with a friendly staff and great ambiance. Try a seafood chowder or a freshly caught lobster!

BISCUIT BITCH

You wake up in Seattle and your plans are to go beat the crowds for the famous Space Needle but you want a bite to eat before for breakfast. Biscuit Bitch continues to be a staple in the city for their famous and absolutely delicious biscuit sandwiches. This funky and fun joint offers some classic options as well as a modern twist. Grab a biscuit and coffee and you will be all set for the rest of your day.

THE FIRST STARBUCKS

One of the world's top coffee powerhouses started just in front of the famous Pike Place Market in the year 1971. Three people created the first location out of their sheer love for coffee. The dream culminated into a multinational, billion dollar company. The menu is seemingly identical to other stores but the overall setting cannot be beat. I recommend getting their just as it opens because the lines can get up to hours long.

MARKET GRILL

In Pike Place Market, there are a few restaurants within the confines which the locals can't get enough of. Market Grill is a smaller place with a bar and some stools. Their staple is fish sandwiches. When I went I ordered the salmon sandwich with some tomatoes, lettuce and mayo. It sounds simple yet it packs such a flavor punch and it embodies what the Paciifc Northwest offers in their cuisine. I highly recommend a stop at this local favorite.

DIN TAI FUNG

What is one of the best comfort foods? Yup, you guessed it, dumplings! If you head to the mall in downtown Seattle you will come across this dumpling heaven. Employees are hand making fresh dumplings all day through a large window that customers can see. The process is down to a science and they never fail to disappoint. Din Tai Fung has locations abroad as well such as London and Taiwan. Take some time and have some of the best dumplings the world has to offer!

SALT & STRAW

After a nice dinner with family or friends, one of the best ways to cap off the night is to get some ice cream. Salt & Straw is one of the west coast's best kept secrets. Their technique in making the homemade ice cream will leave you floored and craving another serving. I recommend getting the green tea ice cream or the lavender as they are two flavors you don't see often. Go end your night the right way and grab some ice cream!

PIKE PLACE CHOWDER

The Pacific Place Mall is home to one of the best chowder joints in all of Seattle. Locals enjoy coming here because the city is known for some dreary, rainy weather and kicking back with a warm, hardy bowl of chowder is way too appealing. I went after a Seattle Seahawks game, luckily with a decent appetite. I split a lobster roll with old bay chips and a lobster chowder inside of a warm bread bowl with a friend. Some people wouldn't expect this quality from inside of a mall but hear me out, it's some of the tastiest chowder I have had in my life!
